Through smoke and chaos, through uncertainty and intensity, through packing and unpacking, through doubting and following my heart again, I have come through summer in one piece. How about you?
I feel changed! And the sound of “fresh start” is music to my ears. We had over a week in Nelson this summer where we were completely housebound due to smoke. The air quality was so poor that my eyes were stinging after 30 seconds of stepping outside. Because we had just moved, and things still felt unsettled and shaky, I had serious second thoughts about the decision. My limbic system actually thought for a day or so that I would be stuck FOREVER in danger and imprisonment…..Yep – freaky!
Here I am at the start of our garage sale where we sold almost a full room of unneeded belongings. I had to breathe through a mask part of the day as we were birthing this “fresh start.” What a cleanse!
It’s funny how we always have to let go, to let in the new. And sometimes go we have to go through major chaos. The air cleared….. The sun rose…..
And here is a famous quote that found me again during this transition time:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Nelson Mandela
May your September be a fresh start, fuelled with light, courage and power!
